Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

1. Operator

FindOwner is a service operated by Clearnorth AB (Swedish organisation number 559201-9979), Sweden.

Contact: hello@findowner.app

2. Acceptance

By accessing or using FindOwner, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

3. Eligibility

FindOwner accounts are intended for people aged 18 or older. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian should create and manage the account on your behalf. Anyone may scan a FindOwner tag to help return a found item.

4. What FindOwner does

FindOwner is a QR-based lost-and-found service. You can attach FindOwner tags to belongings. If someone finds an item, they can scan the QR code and contact the owner through FindOwner. Finders do not need an app or account.

FindOwner helps create a way for a finder to contact an owner. It cannot guarantee that a lost item will be found, scanned, contacted about, or returned. FindOwner is not an item tracker and does not itself locate lost belongings. It is not a GPS, Bluetooth or continuous location-tracking product.

Outcomes depend on people and circumstances outside our control — including whether a finder notices the tag, chooses to scan it, chooses to message you, and chooses to return the item.

5. Accounts

You may create an account using Google sign-in or a magic link sent to your email. You are responsible for keeping access to your email and sign-in methods secure, and for activity carried out through your account.

Provide accurate information where the service asks for it. Do not create an account for someone else without permission, and do not impersonate others.

6. Tags and QR codes

FindOwner QR codes identify a FindOwner tag and open the related FindOwner service destination. Treat tag links carefully: they are effectively capability links. Anyone who can open the link may use the related finder-facing features for that tag.

You are responsible for printing, attaching and looking after tags appropriately. We do not guarantee that a QR code will remain readable if it is damaged, worn, covered or poorly printed.

Claiming or activating an available tag associates it with your account through FindOwner's normal activation flow. Duplicated copies of the same QR represent the same FindOwner tag, not separate tags.

If you delete your account, tags you owned are released back to Available so the same QR code can potentially be claimed again later.

7. Free printable tags

You may download a limited set of printable FindOwner tags without creating an account. Email is optional and only used if you ask us to send a copy of the PDF. The same email may later retrieve the same generated tags.

  • Downloading printable tags does not necessarily create a full FindOwner account
  • It does not automatically activate the tags
  • It does not automatically associate the tags with protected items

Activation happens through FindOwner's normal available-tag flow when a tag is used as intended. Free printable tags are provided in limited batches. FindOwner applies reasonable technical limits to prevent abuse. Downloading or requesting free tags does not opt you into marketing.

8. Physical tags and paid plans

FindOwner currently offers a Free plan with limits shown in the product (including a limited number of owned tags and protected items). New accounts may also receive a welcome set of printable DIY tags where that feature is enabled.

Paid plans (such as Plus or Business) and professionally printed tags are not currently sold through FindOwner. Where interest registration or waitlist signup is offered, registering interest does not guarantee access, pricing or availability. FindOwner does not currently sell and ship physical tags through an in-product purchase and fulfilment flow.

9. Finder and owner behaviour

When using FindOwner, you agree to:

  • Use FindOwner lawfully and respectfully
  • Respect finder and owner privacy
  • Not misuse QR tags, share links or chat access
  • Not impersonate others
  • Not use FindOwner for fraud, harassment, spam or other unlawful purposes
  • Not attempt to disrupt, scrape or abuse the service

Owners decide what item information finders can see, within the product's design. Finders should use chat and optional location sharing only to help return an item.

10. Chat and user content

FindOwner provides chat so finders and owners can communicate without exchanging email or phone numbers through the service. You are responsible for the content you send.

Do not send unlawful, abusive, deceptive or harmful content. We may remove content or restrict access where needed to protect users or operate the service, but we are not obliged to monitor all conversations.

11. Optional rewards

Owners may optionally state a reward for returning an item. FindOwner does not hold reward money, act as an escrow or payment intermediary, or guarantee that any reward will be offered, paid or received. Any reward arrangement is solely between the people involved.

12. Service availability

We aim to keep FindOwner available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Features may change as the product develops. We may need to perform maintenance, fix issues or temporarily limit parts of the service.

13. Suspension and termination

You may stop using FindOwner at any time. You may delete your account from account settings where that option is available.

When you delete your account, personal account and related product data are deleted as described in the Privacy Policy. Tags you owned are released to Available. Limited billing or operational records may be retained where legally or operationally required.

FindOwner may suspend or restrict access in cases of misuse, security risk or violation of these Terms.

14. Intellectual property

FindOwner, including its branding, design and software, is owned by Clearnorth AB or its licensors. You may use the service only as permitted by these Terms. You retain rights in content you upload, and you grant Clearnorth AB a limited licence to host and display that content as needed to operate FindOwner.

15. Privacy

How we collect and use personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.

16. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, FindOwner and Clearnorth AB are not responsible for:

  • whether an item is found, scanned, contacted about or returned
  • disputes between finders and owners
  • loss arising from misuse of tags, share links or chat access
  • outcomes outside our reasonable control

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including mandatory consumer protections.

17. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated appropriately, for example by updating this page and the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by Swedish law. If you are a consumer, you also retain any mandatory rights and mandatory jurisdiction protections available under the law of your country of residence or under EU consumer law. Nothing in these Terms requires you to waive those mandatory protections.
