QR lost-and-found tags: how they actually work

A QR lost-and-found tag is not a tracker. It does not know where your bag is. It does one job: when someone finds the item, they can reach you without learning who you are.

Each FindOwner tag has a unique ID and a QR code. Scanning it opens a page on findowner.app. From there the finder starts an anonymous chat. You get a notification. You reply. You arrange the return. No phone numbers, emails, or addresses are printed on the tag or shown by default.

Owners stick tags on bikes, luggage, cameras, backpacks, sports gear — anything worth more than the cost of losing it. The tag is linked to your account the moment it is active. Nothing extra to “activate” at a desk.

Finders do not need an account. They do not need to install an app. Their phone camera is enough. That is the whole product idea: make returning something easier than ignoring it.

If a tag is damaged or lost, remove it from your account and attach a new one. Your item stays protected as long as at least one working tag is linked to it.
