What to do if you find someone's lost bag or wallet

You found a bag or wallet. You want to do the right thing — and you do not want to dig through someone else's stuff or post their ID online.

First, look for a QR tag. Many people put one on the outside of a bag, on a luggage tag, or inside a wallet sleeve. If you see “Found this? Scan to return,” use your camera. The scan opens a private chat with the owner. You can say where you are without sharing your number.

No tag? Check for a luggage label, a business card, or an email in a clear sleeve. Hand it to staff if you are at a station, gym, or café. Avoid posting photos of ID documents or cards on social media.

If the item has a FindOwner tag, you do not need an account. Scan, send a short message, and wait for a reply. Keep the item safe until you agree on a handoff. You stay anonymous unless you choose otherwise.

Returning something should be simple. A scan is simpler than a detective hunt — for you and for them.
